Test Drive:
The Wanderer Campaign

iCAUR V27 Wanderer Campaign

1. Three Terrains, One Vehicle

The premise was simple: take the iCAUR V27 from the Eastern Desert to the Mediterranean coast and back through Cairo — 1,200 kilometers across three entirely different driving environments — and document everything. The Wanderer Campaign was our way of testing the V27 against the full texture of Egyptian life.

We set off from New Cairo at 6am on a Thursday, with a full charge, two cameras, and no timetable. What followed was three days of discovering just how capable — and how human — this car really is.

"1,200 km. Desert, coast, and city. One charge per day. Zero anxiety."

2. Desert: The First 400 Km

The drive to the Sinai Peninsula covers some of Egypt's most demanding terrain — long straight highways under relentless sun, occasional unpaved diversions, and almost no shade. We arrived at the Ain Sukhna rest point with 38% battery remaining after 180 km, which matched the V27's predicted range almost exactly.

What struck us first was the composure. The V27 feels rooted at highway speeds, its suspension absorbing the subtle undulations of Egyptian asphalt without drama. The cabin stayed cool. The range display stayed steady. It felt like the car knew exactly where it was.

3. Coast: Alexandria To Marsa Matrouh

Day two was all coast — the V27 on the North Coast highway, windows down (briefly), before the cabin climate control quietly reasserted itself. The coastal road between Alexandria and Marsa Matrouh runs for nearly 300 km of smooth tarmac with ocean views. We covered it in one charge, arriving with 22% remaining.

Regenerative braking performed beautifully on the highway — not aggressive enough to feel intrusive at speed, but meaningful enough that we gained two percentage points simply descending into Marsa Matrouh from the plateau above.

4. City: The Real Test

The final day was Cairo. And Cairo, as any driver knows, is where vehicles either prove themselves or fall apart. Stop-and-go traffic on the Ring Road, the narrow streets of Heliopolis, the chaos of a Friday afternoon near Tahrir. The V27 handled all of it with surprising ease.

In city driving, range efficiency improved noticeably compared to the open highway — regenerative braking recovering energy with every stop. By the time we reached our final destination in Maadi, we'd covered 280 urban kilometers and still had 19% battery left.

5. What We Learned

The Wanderer Campaign confirmed something we'd suspected: the V27 isn't just capable in Egypt — it was designed for Egypt. The thermal management keeps composure in desert heat. The range holds true on long highways. The efficiency shines in city traffic. And through all of it, it's genuinely enjoyable to drive.
